Romania – HR ROUNDTABLE 34th edition: Misbehaviour vs.mental health in the workplace: 5 subtle differences every employer must know

Our Romanian member firm Suciu  – Employment and Data Protection Lawyers will hold on October 4 its 34th HR Roundtable on the topic of “Misbehaviour vs.mental health in the workplace: 5 subtle differences every employer must know”

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻
The pandemic, the Russo-Ukrainian War and the major shifts in their working habits have taken a toll on many employees over the last couple of years. Many of them have spent months adapting to the new stressors of working remotely, for example, only to now have to re-adjust to commuting and working onsite again. It’s left employees feeling tense, unhappy, and worried about the future.

Irrespective of employees’ mental health issues being caused by their workplace or stem from elsewhere (like personal problems or substance abuse), mental health can certainly affect their work to the extent that they often turn from high-performers into low performers or troublemakers.

As this phenomenon seems to be on the rise, I decided to address this issue during our next HR Roundtable in order to raise awareness amongst employers, especially HR professionals.

We will be addressing 5 subtle differences between mental health issues that require remedial actions and misconducts that justify disciplinary measures or even dismissals.

You would be surprised how in some cases a more “human” approach can change things for the better and even save you from costly unfair dismissal lawsuits.
